Reimagining the Clubhouse was a 12 hour exhibition presented as part of Melbourne Design Week at Runner Up and curated by Found Golf, Good Sport & Katie Kelso. We brought together 10 creatives working across a variety of disciplines to present design as critical in preserving and challenging legacies of inclusion and exclusion associated with sports club houses. The designers have created works that evoke the nostalgic memories of the club houses we have occupied through time. Reimagining the Clubhouse is a celebration and provocation on the role of sport, and more specifically sports clubs as architectural representations of collective and codified behaviour. Through the exhibition we explore how sport catalyses cultural norms associated with race, gender, politics, environment, access and inclusivity.
